Top Athletes to Watch at 2014 Granite Games

In less than two weeks, elite athletes from all over the country will descend upon St. Cloud, Minnesotta to compete in the 2014 Granite Games. There aren't many events in the country where you will find a field with this much talent outside of The CrossFit Games. Below are some of the heavy hitters that will look to take home first place.

Lauren Fisher Age - 20 Region - Southern California CrossFit Games History: 2014 - 9th place CrossFit Games 2013 - 7th place (Team Invictus) CrossFit Games Fisher is arguably the hottest female athlete in the sport. She’s young, she’s strong, and she shows no signs of slowing down. Not only is Fisher an elite fitness athlete, she is an Olympic lifter who competed at U.S. Nationals. She works out of CrossFit Invictus, and you can expect she will make a push at the podium in 2015. |

Sam Briggs Age - 32 Region - Europe CrossFit Games History: 2014 - 4th place – Regionals 2013 - 1st place - CrossFit Games 2011 - 4th place - CrossFit Games 2010 - 19th place - CrossFit Games Already crowned the “Fittest on Earth” in 2013, this British firefighter is one of the strongest women in the elite fitness community. After a disappointing 2014 season where she missed The Games by one place at regionals, we expect her to attack 2015 and make her way back to the top. |

Mat Fraser Age - 24 Region - Northeast CrossFit Games History: 2014 - 2nd place - CrossFit Games 2013 - 5th place – Regionals If Fisher is the hottest female in the sport, then Fraser is the hottest male. Many didn’t know who this 24-year-old kid from the northeast was heading into the ’14 Games, but after a 2nd-place finish behind Rich Froning, you can bet they won’t soon forget. Fraser has a background in Olympic lifts, and he continues to compete, gain experience, and work on endurance and gymnastics. He is coming off a victory at The Crush Games, and we think he will soon add “2014 Granite Games Champ” to his resume. |

Stacie Tovar Age - 29 Region - North Central CrossFit Games History: 2014 - 6th place – Regionals 2013 - 20th place - CrossFit Games 2012 - 12th place - CrossFit Games Like Briggs, Tovar is a CrossFit Games vet who is coming off of a 6th place finish at the north central regionals. But true to form, this elite athlete used this disappointment as fuel to her fire, and she is coming back with a vengeance. She took home first place at the Crush Games in August, and isn’t likely to stop there. Tovar will be competing several more times throughout the season against top competition, and will look to stand atop the Granite Games Podium on September 14th. |
