ICYMI: "Murph" Will Go Down At The CrossFit Games
Dave Castro is the mastermind behind the events that make up the CrossFit Games season. From the Open to Regionals all the way to the Games, he's the brain behind the braun. Yesterday he released the first announced event for the 2015 CrossFit Games, and it's a familiar one: Murph.

Most people know Murph as the beatdown most CrossFitters go through on Memorial Day every year. Here's what it looks like:

1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

Murph first showed up in 2005 and was the first hero workout. It's named after Michael Murphy, and his story is incredible

A couple thoughts here:

Just because it's announced first doesn't mean it'll be the first event at the Games. The first time the Games had a beach event was in 2011 and that event was modeled after Murph (lovingly referred to as Super Beach Murph). We could see something like that happen this year, but remember we saw the Triple Three event last year in the middle of the day on Friday and I expect that to be the case this time around.

The question is how broad the instructions will be. Murph gets easier and quicker the more you partition the movements. 50 rounds of 2/4/6 is easier than 20 rounds of 5/10/15. Will we see chest to bar pull ups? Will the runs be replaced with the Assault bikes that every Games athlete got this past month? Will the athletes be allowed to break up the middle portion as they see fit?

I'm sure many of the Games athletes have given it a go since hearing the news, including Mikko Salo's protege Jonne Koski:

And maybe a few other people not competing as indviduals are having a better time this weekend:
