After Alethea Boon set a solid time to be in the first heat, Tasia Percevecz and Jamie Hagiya came out in the second heat to challenge her. Percevecz's 10:04 was good enough to take the event lead and the heat against solid competition such as Emily Bridgers, Camille Leblanc Bazinet, Stacie Tovar, and Christy Adkins.
Heat three featured some heavy-hitting international talent in Emily Abbott, Thuridur Erla Helgadottir, Michele Letendre, Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault, Kristin Holte, and Anna Tunnicliffe. Even against American athletes Margaux Alvarez, Chyna Cho, and Lauren Fisher, Abbott was able to start with the lead and hold it through nearly the entire heat until Michele Letendre caught up at the very end and snuck in to take the heat.
Percevecz's time to beat stuck around until the final heat when the Dottirs entered the stadium. Annie Thorisdottir was out to an incredible pace, finishing the first two rounds in under 1:20. During the middle rounds, Sara Sigmundsdottir was able to take the lead, but after a couple rough no reps, Katrin Davidsdottir was able to take the lead and hold onto it with an incredible 9:25 finish followed by Brooke Wells, Sara Sigmundsdottir, and Sam Briggs.
Tia-Clair Toomey was in first going into this event and stayed in first after the event, but Sigmundsdottir made up a ton of room on her and shrank Toomey's lead from 56 points to only 4 points.
