2017 CrossFit Games Open Bubble Athletes
Here are the athletes on the bubble of making it to Regionals in the 2017 CrossFit Games Open season.
Qualifying for the CrossFit Games Regionals is getting harder as more people compete and the margins get smaller. With tougher competition, we're seeing familiar names struggle to even make it out of the Open. Here are the athletes on the bubble in the 2017 Open:
Cheryl Nasso, South East, 21st, 6 points out
Cheryl Nasso has competed at Regionals six years in a row, competed as an individual at the 2011 CrossFit Games and joined CrossFit New England in the affiliate competition at the CrossFit Games in 2015.
Whitney Cappellucci, South West, 33rd, 57 points out
Whitney Cappellucci has competed at Regionals for five years in a row and took 30th at the 2016 CrossFit Games.
Jeff Evans is known for being one of the strongest CrossFitters in the world and barely missed out on qualifying for the 2016 CrossFit Games. He took 35th at the 2014 CrossFit Games.
Jordan Cook moved to the North East region for 2017 but has competed in the South Region for the past three years. He competed at the 2014 and 2015 CrossFit Games, taking 36th both years.
Jordan Troyan is one of the best swimmers in CrossFit and has made it to Regionals five years in a row and made it to the Games in 2013 and 2014 where he took 24th and 20th, respectively.
Steve Fawcett has competed at the European Regionals for the past five years and took 26th at the CrossFit Games in 2015.
Spencer Panchik hasn't made it to Regionals yet, but this is the closest he's gotten after a 39th place finish in the Open in Central East last year.
