CrossFit Mayhem Reveals Lineup For Team Games
CrossFit Mayhem has revealed the lineup for both of their CrossFit Games teams.
It appears that CrossFit Mayhem has decided on who will be competing on both of their teams for the 2018 CrossFit Games season. After Dave Castro announced that the team competition will be switching from a six-person format to a four-person format, many wondered how CrossFit Mayhem would respond.
Not too long after that, Mayhem took to Instagram to announce that they will be fielding two teams for the 2018 season — Team Independence and Team Freedom.
That was back in November, now nearly three months later we know who will be on those two teams of four: Lindy Barber, Tasia Percevecz, Darren Hunsucker, Matt Hewett, Rich Froning, Elly Kabboord, Kristin Miller, and lastly 2017’s Fittest Teen on Earth 16-17 Angelo DiCicco.
If the order they are standing in is any indication it appears that the two teams will feature Lindy Barber, Tasia Percevecz, Darren Hunsucker, and Matt Hewett on one squad, while Rich Froning, Elly Kabboord, Kristin Miller, and Angelo DiCicco will make up the second team. This is a smart move by Mayhem, offsetting the experience and talent pool to create two teams that will most likely be battling it out for the top spot at Regionals and the Games.
While Angelo DiCicco definitely has the credentials to compete as an individual at the highest level, going team is a great move that will allow him to gain some experience competing against experienced adult athletes before transitioning into being a full-fledged individual athlete. Plus he may get to add CrossFit Games Team Champion to his resume.
