Rio 2016 Men's 62kg Recap

Rio 2016 Men's 62kg Recap

A very emotional session with lots of ups and downs, the men's 62kg A session started off with 2015 World Champion Chen Lijun (CHN) dropping out after missing his first two snatches. He seemed to be injured or at least very uncomfortable as he was limping around after each missed lift, neither of which got anywhere close to successful.

With Chen Lijun out, the field was wide open and it was Colombia's Oscar Figueroa Mosquera who stepped up and took home the gold. On top of that, Figueroa Mosquera used the opportunity to retire, leaving his shoes on the platform as a symbol of the end of his career. The four-time Olympian retires at age 33 as an Olympic Champion and holding the Olympic Record for clean & jerk in the 62kg weight class.
