The weekend in Indiana was kicked off with the Log Lift. The competitors seemed to have off days, having to press outside in the sun, staring up at the great expense of a blue sky with a 12” Rogue log crushing their diaphragm.
In the Heavyweights as the Log approached 400lbs the field narrowed. Adam Derks had a close attempt at 385lbs but couldn't stand up with the log on the push jerk, narrowly missing what would have been a PR.
Sean Demarinis, Rob Kearney, and Brian Fletcher were all successful at 400lbs. The weight then jumped to 425, which was just too much for the day, resulting in a three-way tie for first place with 400lbs.
In the deadlift, 800lbs was the roadblock that whittled the field down to just a few competitors that were successful, including Ken Nowicki, Sean Demarinis, Adam Derks, and Trey Bennett.
Bennett and Derks went onto successful lifts of 850lbs. Derks followed that with an almost effortless pull of 905 for the event win.
