The Log Lift for max starts off the day with a beautiful wooden log made by Steve Slater just for the show. The hot humid conditions in Indiana gave the amateurs trouble on the log lift yesterday but the pros are pros for a reason and are used to a variety of conditions and adapt.

Most of the competitors were good up to 365 but 395 separated the pack with only Jerry Pritchett, Dimitar Savatinov & Robert Oberst with successful lifts at 395lbs.

The Log then jumped to 425 which proved to be too much for Pritchett while Savatinov & Oberst made quick work of 425 as well as the next attempt of 445lbs. The log then made a huge jump to 470lbs which would break Oberst’s current American record, Savatinov chose to pass on the weight to save energy for the rest of the day while Oberst gave it a valiant effort cleaning the huge log to his chest but the hot weather made him see stars with 470lbs resting on his chest and he didn’t have enough energy for the press.
