Romanian weightlifter Gabriel Sincraian has tested positive for a banned substance and could have his 2016 Olympic bronze medal stripped.
Sincraian, who failed a doping test for testosterone, finished on the podium in Rio in the men's 85kg category. The 27-year-old previously served a two-year ban for testing positive for stanozolol, a banned steroid, in 2013.
While the IWF has not made a final decision on Sincraian's status, he could be facing an eight-year ban for his second offense. The International Olympic Committee will decide if Sincraian's bronze medal will be given to Kazakhstan's Denis Ulanov, who finished in fourth place.
In August, Kyrgyzstan's Izzat Artykov tested positive for strychnine and was the first athlete to have his medal stripped at the Rio Olympics. His bronze medal in the 69kg category went to Columbia's Luis Javier Mosquera.
