In a statement made via Twitter, Eric Roza announced that he will be taking over as CEO & Owner of CrossFit.

The events of the last week have been tremendously painful to us all.

As everyone tries to stay in their best shape while social distancing, USA Weightlifting and the Canadian Weightlifting Fédération Haltérophile Canadienne announced last week that they have partnered to put together a competition calendar. 

This Friday, the CrossFit community is banding together for United in Movement, a fitness challenge created to raise relief funds to support small businesses, gyms, and humanitarian efforts affected by COVID-19.

There has been no bigger situation that has affected the entire world in recent years like the COVID-19 pandemic has. The lives of many people throughout the world has been affected because of either social distancing or complete shutdowns, depending on where they live.

The 2020 Madrid CrossFit Championship has been postponed.  More details about the rescheduled event to come.

The 2020 West Coast Classic is postponed due to coronavirus.  See the event's update below:

AUSTIN, Texas (January 23, 2020) - Today, FloSports, the innovator in live digital sports and original content, and Loud And Live Sports announced an expansion of their partnership heading into 2020. FloSports will exclusively stream the Loud And Live Sports events set to occur in the United States, Spain and Mexico. The partnership will bring live and on-demand content and coverage of five high-profile events to a global audience on FloElite. The multi-year deal will include the West Coast CrossFit® Classic, Madrid CrossFit® Championship (Spain) and the Mayan CrossFit® Classic (Mexico) in addition to the Wodapalooza CrossFit® Festival and the Granite Games for which the two had previously partnered. With a prize purse totaling nearly $1.3M USD, these five events have already attracted some of the top athletes within the sport including Tia-Claire Toomey, Patrick Vellner, Lauren Fisher, Noah Olsen, Brooke Wells, Ben Smith and Brent Fikowski among others. 

In case you missed the news earlier this week, the scores from the CrossFit Open are now official. The national champions have been crowned and the top 20 are now established. You can see the scores for yourself at the CrossFit leaderboard website. 

The 2018 CrossFit Games featured 40 men and 40 women who competed to find out who the Fittest on Earth would be. 2019 will be completely different. This year there will be 148 men and 134 women from around the world who will attempt to win that same title. There will also be 14 teams in Madison. That is a lot of athletes.

Most fans who watch the CrossFit Games have their favorite male and female athletes, but those aren’t the only competitions in Madison. Some of the most exciting action you will see this year will come from the team events. 

There are no other Sanctionals or other events between now and the 2019 CrossFit Games, but thanks to an unexpected development, another name has been thrown into the mix.
