Marcus Filly Withdraws From The 2017 CrossFit Games Season
Marcus Filly withdraws from the 2017 CrossFit Games season for the best reason possible.
In yet another surprising turn of events, Marcus Filly has withdrawn from the 2017 CrossFit Games Season. Unlike Jacob Heppner, who withdrew due to a knee issue, Filly is pulling out to focus on his newborn baby:

According to Filly, "the months of anticipation and her first 9 days have stretched my emotional and mental resources to their limits" and with the commitment required to truly compete, Filly decided to instead put that time and energy into being a father and a husband.
While he won't be competing this year, he will still continue training and coaching. As we learned last year, Filly is a fierce competitor who also has a commitment to living a life beyond that of just an athlete. While this will keep him from the Games this year and open up a spot in the California Regional it's incredibly unlikely this is the last time we've seen Marcus Filly compete at the Games.
