Who Can Win The Run Swim Run Event At The 2017 CrossFit Games
Who can win the run/swim/run event at the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games?
The first announced event at the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games is a run/swim/run and while we've never seen an event exactly like that before, we've seen plenty of running and swimming events from past years at the Games. So which athletes have the best shot at winning a run/swim/run event in Madison?
Fikowski had phenomenal finishes in both the trail run and the swim at the 2016 CrossFit Games and with more trails and more swimming, there's no reason to believe he's gonna drop off in those capacities.
The reigning champ doesn't rest on his laurels and has been working on his endurance with super coach Chris Hinshaw.
The former Navy SEAL has been at the top of the heap on running and swimming events since they've been included in the Games.
Noah Ohlsen
Ohlsen had an uncharacteristically poor performance at the trail run event in the 2016 CrossFit Games, but he's always been strong with both swimming and running.
Koski had a hard time at the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games, pulling out after being sidelined with a back injury but not before destroying the field in a swim workout.
Eramo's performances in not only the trail run and swim, but also longer events like Murph are good indicators that she's got what it takes to be the winner in a run/swim couplet.
Two-time CrossFit Games runner-up Tia-Clair Toomey won the ocean swim at the 2016 Games and has historically done will in running events as well.
Sam Briggs
The Engine that is Briggs doesn't mess around when it comes to endurance events and the former duathlete will definitely show up ready for swimming and running.
Reed had great showings at both the swim and trail run events at the 2016 Games and with more experience, she'll be able to compete with the best of the best in this event.
The two-time back-to-back Games champion is so well rounded and so well trained, it's hard to count her out for nearly anything.
